Ruth Matt, CFP Emeritus® Member
Founder, Retired
After more than 37 years of helping individuals and families achieve financial confidence, Ruth retired from active practice while leaving behind a thriving firm built on trust, integrity, and personalized guidance.
Ruth was a Cornell Spanish Major, which was great for learning how to communicate, but found she was interested in numbers as well as people. Learning about compound interest started it all. While serving as a Trust Officer for a bank in NJ, she became a Certified Financial Planner™ in 1988. This was an invaluable experience which led her to want to become more involved with helping people make solid short and long-term financial decisions before death. She started with IDS, now Ameriprise, then worked for Citicorp, WR Rice Financial Services, and finally started her own Firm in 2010 under Commonwealth.
She hired Bryce Kronk, CFP® who now owns Fore River Financial in January 2019 and took on the role of mentor, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Together they put their clients first and numbers second. Ruth’s focus on listening, education, and long-term relationships helped generations of clients navigate life’s most important decisions.
In retirement, Ruth hopes to educate the public on financial matters through seminars and classes, become civically engaged, and spend more time on piano, hiking, and tennis. Her husband Jonathan and she also hope to spend more time with son Peter and family in CT.
Today Ruth’s vision continues with Bryce and his team, guided by the same principles that anchored her through her career: integrity, thoughtful advice, and a genuine caring for client’s financial futures.
